Great Ormside

England

England

Great Ormside is a small Eden Valley village just off the A66, six kilometres from Appleby-in-Westmorland. Most visitors arrive via Junction 38 of the M6, then follow the A685 and local roads. The village sits between the Pennines and Lake District fells, enjoying a relatively sheltered position in the valley. Its most notable feature is the Cop Stone, an ancient stone circle standing beside the River Eden that's over 4,000 years old.
