Gorteen sits on the N4 between Dublin and Sligo town, making it a handy stop for anyone heading west from the capital, about 200 kilometers out. You can also reach it via the R287 from Ballymote or local roads from Tubbercurry and Charlestown. There are around 10 EV fast chargers in the area, which is grand for electric car drivers on longer trips. Despite being on a major route, the town keeps its farming roots strong. The weekly country market in the center is the real draw, where local farmers still bring their livestock and produce just like their fathers did.
