Goleen
Ireland
Ireland
Goleen perches at the very tip of the Mizen Peninsula, about as far southwest as you can get in County Cork before hitting the Atlantic. It's a proper remote spot that takes commitment to reach, following the N71 from Cork city through Clonakilty and Skibbereen, then the R591 through Schull before winding local roads narrow between stone walls and small fields. The two-hour journey from Cork covers roughly 120 kilometers, or you can approach from Bantry via the R572 for a shorter run. Just five kilometers away sits Mizen Head Signal Station, dramatically perched on cliffs at Ireland's southwesternmost point.
