Godalming is a Surrey market town on the River Wey, 40 miles southwest of London via the A3. The A3100 connects to Guildford in 15 minutes, whilst longer routes serve London and Portsmouth. The town centre features independent shops along its historic high street, surrounded by Surrey Hills countryside. Godalming was the world's first town with public electric street lighting, installed in 1881.
