Glencaple lies along the River Nith, 2km southeast of Dumfries via the A710 coastal route. The village sits where the river widens toward the Solway Firth, accessible from the M74 and A75 for longer journeys. Over 20 EV charging points serve the Dumfries area. The working quay still hosts fishing boats and pleasure craft on the tidal waters.
