Glassan sits on Lough Ree's eastern shore, about 8km northeast of Athlone via the R390. The village connects easily to the N6 Dublin-Galway route through Athlone, with the N55 offering an alternative approach from the north. It's a proper spot for anglers and boaters exploring Ireland's second-largest lake on the Shannon. The local marina's stone harbor wall, built over 150 years ago, still serves pleasure craft and fishing boats today.
