Girvan is a working fishing port on the Ayrshire coast, easily reached via the A77 coastal route. It sits between Glasgow (90km north) and Stranraer (50km south), making it a natural stopping point for longer journeys. The town serves as a gateway to both the dramatic coastline and the Southern Uplands via the A714. You can still watch fishing boats unload their daily catch of prawns and white fish directly onto the harbor quayside.
