England
Girton lies just northwest of Cambridge, serving as a popular residential area for those working in the university city. The A14 provides the main connection, linking to the M11 for London and continuing west toward the Midlands, whilst the A428 heads northwest to Huntingdon and the A1. Local commuters typically use Huntingdon Road for the brief journey into Cambridge city centre. The village is notable for housing Girton College, Cambridge University's first college to admit women students in 1869.
