Gilling is a Yorkshire Dales village near Richmond, reached via the A6108 from Scotch Corner on the A1(M). The A6136 provides an alternative route from Richmond, whilst the B6274 connects southward through Catterick. Electric vehicle charging is available at Scotch Corner services and Richmond. The Norman church of Holy Cross houses remarkable 14th-century wall paintings of Saint Gregory's life, uncovered during 1960s restoration work.
