Gammersgill lies deep in Coverdale, reached via winding dale roads that connect to the A684 at Leyburn. Popular routes include the scenic drive through Horsehouse and Carlton, whilst visitors from Harrogate often approach via Masham. The 12th-century church contains a remarkable Norman tympanum depicting the Tree of Life.
