Frieth perches high in the Chilterns with commanding views over the Thames Valley, reached via winding lanes from the A4155 at Henley-on-Thames or through Lane End from the M40. The village connects a network of small hamlets through narrow roads that follow ancient boundaries between beech woods and open fields. St John the Evangelist church houses a remarkable medieval wall painting of St Christopher, uncovered during 1960s restoration work.
