Fountains Abbey lies in the Skell Valley near Ripon, seven miles from the cathedral city. This 12th-century Cistercian monastery forms part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site with Studley Royal's Georgian water gardens. From the A1, take the A61 toward Ripon, then follow heritage signs west. The B6265 offers a scenic route from Pateley Bridge, whilst Harrogate visitors can use quieter roads via Aldfield. The site has ample parking and over 40 EV charging points nearby. The abbey church stretches 360 feet, longer than many cathedrals.
