Foubister is a small settlement on Mainland Orkney, about 10km southeast of Kirkwall via the A960 and minor roads. Most visitors fly into Kirkwall Airport or arrive by ferry from mainland Scotland. The area features typical Orkney farmland with ancient archaeological sites scattered throughout, including the remarkable Grain Earth House, an Iron Age underground chamber carved into solid rock.
