Forder lies deep within Dartmoor National Park, reached via the A382 from Newton Abbot or local roads from the A30 at Whiddon Down. The narrow moorland lanes require careful driving, particularly in winter fog. Chagford, 5km away, serves as the nearest proper town, whilst longer routes connect to Okehampton and Exeter. With around 14 fast chargers nearby, electric vehicles are well-catered for exploring the moor. The ancient Scorhill Stone Circle, with its 23 Bronze Age standing stones, stands within walking distance.
