Firies sits along the N22 between Killarney (15km) and Tralee, making it a handy stop in County Kerry's countryside. The village lies just off this main Cork-Killarney route, with Kerry Airport about 20km north for those flying in. Local roads like the R561 connect the surrounding rural communities. The area has good electric vehicle charging infrastructure with over 40 fast stations nearby, perfect for touring the Ring of Kerry. Firies is famous as the birthplace of Gaelic football legend Colm Cooper, "The Gooch," whose family still runs Cooper's Bar in the village center.
