Fairford lies in the Cotswolds along the A417 between Cirencester and Lechlade, with the River Coln running through its centre. Most visitors arrive via the A417 from the M40 at junction 15, whilst locals use the A361 from Burford. The town serves as a gateway to the upper Thames valley, surrounded by characteristic honey-coloured limestone buildings. RAF Fairford operates just outside town, where American B-52 bombers occasionally conduct training exercises.
