Escomb is a County Durham village reached via the A688 from Bishop Auckland, sitting in the peaceful Wear Valley countryside. The A1(M) provides long-distance connections whilst local roads serve daily traffic from surrounding towns. The village boasts one of England's most complete Saxon churches, built around 670 AD using Roman stones from nearby Binchester fort.
