Errew sits on the shores of Lough Conn in County Mayo, about 220 kilometres from Dublin via the N5. From Galway, it's roughly 80 kilometres north on the N17 before joining local roads. The R315 brings you through typical Mayo countryside to reach the village, with Crossmolina and Ballina both within 15 kilometres for daily needs. The highlight here is Errew Abbey, a 15th-century Augustinian friary whose stone ruins rise directly from Lough Conn's edge, where the monks once fished for their supper.
