Ellisfield is a small Hampshire village 8km northeast of Basingstoke, reached via the A339 and minor roads through Herriard. The area sits on typical chalk downland with mixed farming and woodland. From London, take M3 Junction 6, then A30/A339 toward Alton. The 12th-century St. Martin's Church contains a rare surviving medieval doom painting above the chancel arch.
