Ellenborough forms part of the Maryport area on Cumbria's coast, reached via the A596 from either Workington or Wigton. The A66 from the M6 provides the main long-distance connection, whilst locals use the B5300 coastal road or minor routes through Dearham. Electric vehicle charging is readily available with about eleven fast chargers nearby. The area sits close to Maryport's Roman fort site, which houses Britain's largest collection of Roman military altars.
