Edinbain perches on Skye's western shore near Loch Greshornish, reached via the A87 and A850 from Portree (20km) or directly from the mainland through Inverness (160km). Local routes connect to Dunvegan and surrounding crofting communities, whilst long-distance visitors follow the scenic Highland route past Eilean Donan Castle. The settlement's name derives from Gaelic meaning "between two rivers."
