Edenderry

united kingdom

Edenderry is a market town of nearly 6,000 in eastern County Offaly, sitting 55 kilometers west of Dublin along the R402. The Grand Canal curves around the town's southern edge, a legacy waterway that once linked Dublin to the Shannon and now offers walking routes through the midlands countryside. The town serves as a handy base for reaching Mullingar, Naas, and Tullamore, all about 36 kilometers away, with good access to the M4 and M6 motorways. The ruins of 15th-century Blundell Castle stand right in the town center, a proper Norman tower house that's hard to miss.
