Edderside lies along Cumbria's Solway coast, reached via the B5300 coastal road from Silloth or Maryport. Most visitors arrive from Carlisle on the A596 through Wigton, about 35km away, whilst Lake District traffic uses the A595 through Cockermouth. The village serves as a quiet base for exploring the Solway Firth's remarkable mudflats, which at low tide expose vast feeding grounds for migrating waders.
