Ecclefechan lies in Dumfries and Galloway, just off the A74(M) at Junction 19. The village sits 8km from Lockerbie and makes a convenient stop between Scotland's central belt and northern England. It's the birthplace of Thomas Carlyle, whose childhood home remains as a museum on the main street.
