Dykeside is a small coastal settlement in Aberdeenshire, about 15km north of Aberdeen via the A90. The community sits where the River Don meets the North Sea, protected by sea defenses that give the place its name. Local roads connect to surrounding villages, whilst the A90 provides the main route for longer journeys north to Peterhead or south toward central Scotland. The settlement's defining feature remains the historic dykes and embankments built to shield the low-lying land from coastal flooding.
