Durn occupies elevated ground in the Pennine foothills between Rochdale and the Lancashire moors, accessed via the A58 from Rochdale centre or the A640 from Oldham. The area serves as a gateway to moorland walking routes whilst maintaining easy motorway connections through the M62. The community features converted mill buildings that now house wellness facilities utilising natural spring water.
