Dungiven

united kingdom

united kingdom

Dungiven sits where three rivers meet at the foot of Benbradagh in the Sperrins, positioned on the A6 between Belfast (85 km) and Derry (31 km). The main road now bypasses the town through the Glenshane Pass, a mountain crossing that climbs over 300 meters. It's handy for reaching Limavady (15 km), coastal spots like Portstewart (40 km), or crossing to Letterkenny (63 km). The town's crown jewel is the 12th-century Augustinian priory ruins, home to the ornate tomb of Cooey-na-Gall O'Cahan with its remarkable medieval stone carvings of gallowglass warriors.
