Dovecote lies just outside Haddington in East Lothian, easily reached via the A1 or A6093. Popular routes include quick trips to Edinburgh (25km northwest) and longer journeys south toward Newcastle. The area boasts over 70 public EV charging points along major routes. The settlement's name comes from the historic stone dovecotes built by medieval landowners to house pigeons for winter meat.
