Doon sits 25 kilometres southeast of Limerick city along the R512, which connects to the N24 national route. Most drivers take the N24 southeast from Limerick through Pallasgreen, then turn off for Doon, about 30 minutes in normal traffic. From Cork or Kerry, use the N20 to Limerick then the N24. The Sean Treacy Memorial Swimming Pool, named after the IRA leader born nearby, stands as the village's most distinctive feature and serves as a reminder of the area's role in the independence struggle.
