Donegal town sits where the Atlantic meets County Donegal's rugged interior, connected by the N15 to Sligo and Dublin, while the coastal N56 winds along Donegal Bay. The N13 runs north to Letterkenny, and there's decent electric vehicle charging with 19 fast chargers about. It's a handy base for reaching Glenveagh National Park's red deer and mountain lakes. The town centres on the Diamond, a triangular square with a red sandstone obelisk commemorating the Four Masters, Franciscan friars who compiled Ireland's medieval chronicles here in the 1630s.
