Doncaster sits at the junction of the A1(M) and M18, making it South Yorkshire's key transport crossroads. The A1(M) runs north-south through the city, whilst the M18 heads east toward Hull and west to the M1. Popular routes include the A630 to Sheffield and A19 toward York, with Robin Hood Airport 8 kilometres southeast. The racecourse hosts the St. Leger Stakes, the world's oldest classic horse race.
