Dishes lies on Stronsay in the northern Orkneys, reached by ferry from Kirkwall or via the local airstrip. The small settlement sits amongst rolling fields and dramatic coastlines typical of these windswept islands, with several other communities clustered nearby. The Vat of Kirbuster, a remarkable natural rock pool that fills perfectly with the tide, remains one of Orkney's most curious geological features.
