Dartford straddles the A2 in northwest Kent, 18 miles from London, making it a key stop on routes between the capital and Dover. The M25 crosses the Thames here via the Dartford Crossing, creating one of Britain's busiest traffic corridors. Popular routes include the A2 to Canterbury, local roads to Bluewater shopping centre, and M25 connections to Heathrow. The town's one-way system funnels all traffic past Holy Trinity Church, whose medieval tower has overseen eight centuries of passing travellers.
