Da Hametoon lies on western Mainland Shetland, reached via the A971 from Lerwick about 25 kilometres east. Most visitors fly into Sumburgh then drive north, whilst locals use shorter routes between the scattered western settlements. The area serves as a gateway to the outer isles, with Walls ferry terminal nearby providing connections to remote Foula, whose dramatic cliffs are visible across the sound on clear days.
