Cunnister is a small settlement on Yell, Shetland's second-largest island, reached via ferry from the mainland to Lerwick, then the A970 to Toft and another ferry to Ulsta. The B9081 continues north through moorland to reach this remote coastal spot near Gutcher ferry terminal. The name derives from Old Norse "Kolbeins-staðir," testament to the islands' deep Scandinavian roots.
