Culross is a remarkably preserved 16th-century royal burgh on the Firth of Forth in Fife. Reach it via the A985 from the Kincardine Bridge, about 20km from the M90 if coming from Edinburgh, or through Grangemouth from Glasgow. The town features cobblestone streets, distinctive red-tiled roofs, and serves as a stop on the Fife Coastal Route. Culross Palace contains Scotland's finest domestic Renaissance painted ceiling, with vivid mythological scenes in blues and golds.
