Crossmichael lies along the A713 in Dumfries and Galloway, about 6km northeast of Castle Douglas. Most visitors arrive via the A75, turning north at Castle Douglas, whilst the A713 continues toward Ayr through the Southern Uplands. The village sits amid gentle Galloway hills with roughly 13 EV charging points nearby. The 12th-century parish church displays remarkable Norman stonework.
