Crossbost lies on Lewis's eastern coast in the Lochs district, reached via the A859 from Stornoway about 15 kilometres southeast. The route passes several small communities before arriving at this coastal village beside Loch Erisort. Local routes connect nearby settlements like Ranish and Leurbost within a few kilometres. The village sits where traditional blackhouses once lined the shores of one of Lewis's largest sea lochs.
