Crookhall is a small County Durham community between Consett and Stanley, easily reached via the A692 from Newcastle or A691 from Durham. The area sees mostly local traffic, with residents making short trips to nearby towns. The village sits near the historic Tanfield Railway, one of the world's oldest railways, which now operates heritage steam services.
