Crawcrook is a former mining village in the Tyne Valley, about 10 miles west of Newcastle. The A695 runs straight through, connecting to Newcastle via Gateshead or continuing west toward Hexham and Hadrian's Wall country. It's handy for the A1 and A69, with Newcastle Airport about 15 miles away via the A696. The village sits on the Keelman's Way, a popular cycling route that follows the old Tyne Valley railway line.
