Crantock lies just off the A3059 southwest of Newquay, reached via country lanes that wind down to one of Cornwall's finest beaches. The village centres around its ancient church perched above the Gannel estuary, where St. Carantoc supposedly arrived by floating across the Bristol Channel on a stone altar.
