Craigleith forms part of northern Edinburgh's residential belt, positioned conveniently off the A90 for access to both the city centre and routes north toward Fife. The area connects easily to Edinburgh Airport, about 12 kilometres southwest via the city bypass. Local drivers know it best as home to Edinburgh's massive IKEA store, which serves as an unmistakable landmark for the entire district.
