Countisbury clings to North Devon's dramatic cliffs where Exmoor plunges into the Bristol Channel. Reach it via the A39 Atlantic Highway, with careful navigation of steep, narrow lanes from Lynton (4km) or through Porlock from the west. The village church houses an exceptional 15th-century rood screen, among Devon's finest medieval woodwork.
