Coombes is a tiny South Downs village tucked into the Adur Valley near Bramber and Steyning. Reach it via the A283 from the A27, then follow minor roads north through Upper Beeding. The Norman church of St. Andrew houses remarkable 12th-century wall paintings, amongst Sussex's finest medieval church art.
