Coldstream straddles the Anglo-Scottish border along the River Tweed, connected by the A697 which links Edinburgh (80km north) with Newcastle (90km south). The A698 runs east to Kelso whilst local roads serve cross-border commuters heading to Berwick-upon-Tweed. The town houses the Coldstream Guards Museum in the very building where this famous regiment was raised in 1650.
