Colbost lies on Skye's remote Trotternish Peninsula, reached via the A87 to Portree then the A856 towards Uig. The final stretch uses single-track roads typical of the Highlands. Most visitors combine it with ferry connections at nearby Uig or tours of Dunvegan Castle. The village houses a folk museum in an authentic 19th-century crofter's cottage, complete with original furnishings and a working peat fire.
