Clonegal is a small County Carlow village near the Wicklow border where the Derry River flows through gentle farmland. The R725 connects it north to Tullow and south to Bunclody, with most visitors coming from Dublin via the M9 to Junction 4, then the R418 and R725. It's handy for several golf courses including Bunclody Golf and Mount Wolseley. The village's standout feature is its grand 19th-century limestone courthouse, originally built for the local magistrate and now Clonegal's most recognizable building.
