Clifftown forms part of Southend-on-Sea along the Essex coast, easily reached via the A127 from London or the A13 through East London. The A1159 runs along the seafront connecting neighboring coastal towns, whilst the B1013 heads inland. London Southend Airport lies just northeast. The Victorian pier railway remains one of the world's longest at 1.34 miles, still running electric trains to the pier head.
