Cleadale lies on the Isle of Eigg in the Inner Hebrides, accessible only by ferry from Mallaig via the A830. The island's single-track roads connect scattered crofts, whilst Eigg operates entirely on renewable energy through its pioneering community grid system. The dramatic Sgurr of Eigg volcanic ridge dominates the southern skyline at 393 metres.
