Clarecastle sits 10 kilometres northeast of Ennis on the N18, where the River Fergus widens before joining the Shannon Estuary. It's handy for getting around Clare, with Shannon Airport just 15 minutes away via the N19 and N18. The town connects well to the M18 motorway through Sixmilebridge on the R352, and there's decent charging for electric cars in the area. Named after a 13th-century castle built by Thomas de Clare, only earthworks remain near the old bridge today.
